In the early 1960's Mike
and Nick Fifis came from
Flemington New Jersey to
settle in the South Jersey
area where they took over
ownership of Ponzios Brooklawn,
and in 1964 they purchased
Ponzios Cherry Hill (then
known as the Ellisburg Diner).
Over the years the restaurant
has gone through a few different
family members as well as
its fair share of renovations.
1979 was a year for major
renovations at the restaurant,
which have been added upon
and expanded ever since.
Each dining room in the
restaurant has seen its
fair share of renovations
and changes. In 1984 the
Bar Room was built, to allow
patrons to sit and have
a quick drink while they
waited for their tables.
Then in 2005 the bar area
underwent a major remodel,
this time to give it a life
of its own; what used to
be a room to wait to be
seated for dinner, has now
become its own destination.
At any time of day, patrons
can be found in the Bar
Room talking business, sharing
laughs, and/or watching "the
big game" on one of
four plasma TV's.
Known as the oldest "eatery" in
Cherry Hill, Ponzios has
not only served delicious
meals to many, many residents
of South Jersey, it has
served the community as
well, having employed over
10,000 indiduals throughout
the years. In its unrelenting
search to serve its patrons
in new and better ways,
Ponzios recently opened
Ponzios-To-Go; a convenient
take-out counter not only
offering anything on the
menu for pickup, but providing
party trays and pickup catering
for any type of get together. |
